Classrooms, teaching spaces, two-story lecture hall
Built in 1828 as the first classroom building at Williams College, the Federal-style Griffin Hall has long served as a symbol of the College’s early origins. Special attention was paid during renovation and restoration of this notable building to uphold its interior and exterior historic character. The project included design and construction of new classrooms, refurbishment of existing teaching spaces, and the restoration of a two-story lecture hall that was originally part of the College’s old library. Today’s different teaching philosophies and techniques required the inclusion of four classroom types into the building: interactive, conference, seminar, and lecture.
