Classrooms, faculty offices, media gallery

Located in the heart of the business school complex, the Business Center will serve as the physical and intellectual crossroads for global business education at Brandeis University. It will join together two major facilities that comprise the business school complex: the Sachar International Center and the Lemberg Academic Center.

The program includes two large classrooms designed to accommodate fifty students featuring twenty-two-foot-long teaching walls with whiteboards and drop-down projection screens. New faculty offices grouped in suites of seven are planned for the second level. Two offices with two support spaces are open to the circulation core. This arrangement allows faculty and students more flexibility to interact. The second floor also includes an exterior terrace for casual sitting and conversing outdoors.

An independent entry will foster identity and create a sense of arrival. The entry level will feature a new media gallery and a soft seating area featuring a networked Bloomberg video screen. Adjacent to the media gallery will be two conference/meeting rooms. A staircase with an overhead skylight marks the entry and connects the three levels of the Business Center, promoting connectivity between the program elements.

The massing and materials ensure the building is integrated with the existing facilities and the red brick, metal panel, and curtain wall glazing are arranged to create a distinct composition giving the new Business Center an identifiable presence within the existing context.
