In 2003, Bryant College gained accreditation to become Bryant University and subsequently the university committed to expanding and advancing its educational programs and facilities. As part of this effort, CBT designed the expansion and renovation of Bryant University’s main academic building – the 1970’s Unistructure which houses the sciences department, Salmonson Dining Hall, faculty offices, graduate school, classrooms, and lecture facilities.
CBT provided design services for the renovation and addition to the Unistructure’s Salmonson Dining Hall. This project expanded the dining hall space by 5,500 square feet and major program elements included the reconfiguration of the serving line, creation of an expanded dishwashing area, an expanded servery, and full interior design to accommodating 150 additional seats. The work included significant changes to make the dining hall ADA accessible from the parking lot, building entry, and throughout the multilevel dining hall itself. The new addition features large glass windows on three sides providing abundant natural light and expansive views of a wooded valley.
