CBT’s design of a new ice hockey rink at The Governor’s Academy includes a 200’ x 90’ ice sheet with associated ice cooling and dehumidification equipment. The facility houses a total of 10 locker rooms of various sizes with full washroom and shower facilities. One-half floor up from the rink level is a public floor area containing a warming area and stands for approximately 200 spectators.
The warming area features full height glazing and a stone fireplace and simultaneously offers clear views out into the landscape as well as into the rink activities. The remainder of the support spaces wrap around the ice rink thereby reducing its massing. These spaces include offices, a training room, skate sharpening room, and storage and utility areas.
