Addition, renovation
In association with Foster and Partners of London
CBT, in association with Foster + Partners of London, designed the expansion and renovation of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. The design is pursuant to the museum’s master plan, addressing the Museum’s existing buildings as well as the need for expanded facilities. The Museum’s program focuses on reconfiguration of the facility to improve organization and better house and display the extensive collection. The physical reorganization corresponds to five principal collections: American Art, Ancient Art, Asiatic Art, Contemporary Art, and European Art. The program also strives to integrate curatorial functions and a study center. Improvements to parking, access and services are also planned.
Foster + Partners is responsible for the primary master planning and architectural design. CBT’s role included local liaison support for Foster + Partners, management of the community approvals process and execution of technical construction drawings.
