In association with Handel Architects

This 1.8 million-square foot complex combines housing, hotel, retail, and entertainment functions, providing the critical mass for a sustainable mixed-use neighborhood near Boston’s Theater District. Designed by CBT and Gary Edward Handel and Associates, the Ritz-Carlton Towers parcel comprises two city blocks divided into two parts by Avery Street.

The South Block contains a 193-room Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 160 luxury condominiums, a 100,000-square-foot Sports Club/LA, restaurants, a 19-screen Loews cinema, street level retail, and underground parking for 1,000 cars. The North Block has 150 condominiums, an extended-stay hotel with 63 studio and one-bedroom units, ground level retail, and a community day care center.

As part of the project, a four-story existing office building was upgraded as a marketing center; the ground floor of the only remaining building on Avery Street was leased and renovated as a compatible retail use; and the historic Paramount Theater was restored. Through these investments, Avery Street has become the premiere residence and entertainment address in Boston’s vibrant Theater District.
