CBT is providing design services for the new 20-story residential condominium tower component of a mixed-use development in Kendall Square. Watermark Cambridge consists of 332,000 square feet of residential condominiums (300 units), a 15,000-square-foot health club, and 10,000 square feet of retail.
The Residences is the third building in a master plan which also includes the Genzyme building and a technology building. Created from a precast base with retail to activate the street, the tower emerges as a precast slab sliced with a bold glass wall. A metal wing penetrates the glass wall and is expressed through a punctured façade in the precast slab. This right angle forms the edge of the street and a dramatic geometric form on the skyline. A future hotel tower is proposed adjacent to the residential tower and will complete a new dynamic neighborhood of office, residential, retail, and performance space.
