State Senate Chamber awarded Preservation Award by Massachusetts Historical Commission

CBT is proud to announce that the Massachusetts State Senate Chamber has received a 2019 Preservation Award from the Massachusetts Historical Commission. The awards recognize projects which have revitalized neighborhoods, added to the revenues of cities and towns, and preserved community character, maintaining a sense of time and place that forms the essence of the Commonwealth. The Senate Chamber was named among 12 awardees honored by Secretary William Galvin at the 41st Annual Awards Ceremony on June 6, 2019.

The ceremony was attended by several members of the project team, as well as representatives from the Massachusetts State Senate and the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance.

A holistic transformation, the Senate Chamber restoration took on a multidimensional approach that considered all angles, from renovation of grander infrastructure to preservation of historic detailing. Large-scale improvements were planned with meticulous attention to detail, and the team undertook diligent restoration efforts to maintain historical accuracy and honor the original design. The addition of several accessibility features paired with improved technological infrastructure to transform the room into a functional, sustainable, and universal space.
