Urban Design Manager

Who You Are:

CBT is looking for a highly motivated urban designer with proven project management experience and skills. Ideal candidates enjoy the big picture process of shaping the setting for successful developments but understand the art of constructing buildings. You must have experience managing large scale urban projects to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
 

What You Will Do:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of UD and a multidisciplinary team on complex urban projects of multiple scales
  • Develop and coordinate design concepts appropriate to schedule and budget
  • Manage consultants, budgets, and project schedules
  • Present ideas and designs clearly and professionally in-line with the overall project goals and vision to principals and clients
  • Contribute to the production of deliverables through all project phases
  • Manage communication and expectations between consultants, team and all project related stakeholders

You Have:

  • 7+ years of urban design experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture and a graduate degree in Urban Design or Urban Planning is desired
  • Strong portfolio of work
  • Solid project management skills to meet deadlines and project deliverables
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of urban planning, zoning, and policy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, schedule and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in software (Revit, Rhino, Adobe, Sketch Up are preferred)

Urban Designer and Architect

Who You Are: 

  • You are a passionate and self-motivated designer with an affinity for the urban scale and planning. You enjoy the big picture process of shaping the setting for successful developments but understand the art of constructing buildings
  • Inventive — You know how to transform research to support and create innovative and thoughtful design
  • Thrive in the pre-design phase but you also understand the organization and components of a CD, DD, and SD set
  • You understand the constructability of design in context of building systems
  • Graphically savvy — Your variety of software expertise helps strengthen the communication of design

What You Will Do: 

  • Research — Explore precedent, sustainable, façade and massing studies to merge with local code and zoning regulations
  • Evaluate — Use your research to compare buildings and sites, analyze the effects of design on surrounding fabrics, determine the location of programs, explore possible building envelopes , materials, and building shape options
  • Generate — Provide schemes, design options and ideas to assist in the preparation of design presentation packages using various software tools (Rhino, Sketch-Up, V-Ray)
  • Present-Ideas and designs clearly and professionally in-line with the overall project goals and vision to principals
  • Design — Use all of the above to be an influential part in the design process

You Have:

  • 2–5 years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, graduate degree in planning or urban design is desired
  • Strong portfolio of work
  • Strong typography, layout and conceptual skills 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, schedule and meet tight deadlines

Project Manager

CBT is looking for a Project Manager to join our award-winning team to pursue high profile projects in a wide diversity of market types and push the “creative envelope.” The dynamic and growing firm places a high value on creativity, collegiality, and social responsiveness in the community.  

Ideal candidates will possess the ability to: 

  • Able to manage any of CBT’s projects and to manage concurrently
  • Maintain CBT’s relationship with clients and demonstrates leadership in all aspects of a project  including but not limited to management, design and technical components
  • Able to initiate, develop and coordinate design concepts appropriate to the project’s program and budget
  • Able to plan, schedule and direct the work of the team and make appropriate task assignments
  • Able to determine the constructability of design alternatives and determine those alternatives most appropriate to project constraints.
  • Provide oversight through all phases of project development and construction
  • Expected to provide appropriate and timely feedback to the project Principal and to direct the work of the staff to achieve CBT’s project goals 

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 15–20 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong Business Development and client relationship skills
  • Fully competent in all aspects of architectural processes
  • Graphic, 3D visualization, CAD, and Revit skills required
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates collaborative and professional work ethic
  • High energy and positive attitude is a must

Interior Designer: Professional Staff I

CBT is seeking an Interior Designer/Architect for our Hospitality sector.

Ideal candidates will possess the ability to:

  • Develop and coordinate detailed design concepts
  • Develop functional requirements and project-design criteria
  • Prepare design plan, elevations and details, reflected ceiling plans, millwork design, furniture layouts, finish plans, color plans and schedules
  • Demonstrate understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts
  • Manipulate basic design elements such as proportion, color, light, texture & scale
  • Provide color/finish/material research and selection
  • Prepare contract documents, including design plans, elevations and details, furniture layouts, ergonomic dimensions, finish plans, color plans, finish schedules and ceiling plans
  • Research manufacturers for furniture system and finish materials, providing budget cost for selections
  • Provide programming and space planning analysis and area calculations

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5 –7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Residential, Institutional, or Hospitality Sectors 
  • Strong background in FF+E
  • Construction Administration experience
  • Fully competent in all aspects of design process
  • Demonstrate general knowledge of building materials, detailing, and construction techniques
  • Experience in all phases and aspects of a project desirable
  • Graphic, 3D visualization, and CAD. Proficient/Experience in Revit is required
  • NCIDQ, LEED or Registered is a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates collaborative and professional work ethic
