The Pike School-Renovations and Modernization

CBT developed a feasibility plan and realized projects, such as the Dahod Center for Creative Learning, classrooms, and other all school meeting/learning spaces for the Pike School ― a Pre-K through grade 9 school (with an enrollment of approximately 450 students).  The School’s strategic plan emphasized 21st Century Learning as its top priority, “so that [the Pike School] will continue to meet the demands required for global citizenry in the 21st century though teaching and learning.”

CBT’s visioning sessions, focusing on the future of education at Pike, included a vast array of the school’s community including school administrative leaders, directors of technology and sustainability, faculty across all disciplines, students, and parents/trustees.

Over the course of several months, the planning group participated in establishing visions for a Sustainable Pike 2025 which looked into learning commons, multipurpose and activity spaces, food services, STEM/sciences/maker space, athletics, classrooms, technologies, teacher collaboration and work spaces, and the arts.  The result was a study which explored a series of options including renovation of the existing school, renovation and strategic additions, and new school options – all of which were further broken down as large-, medium-, and small-scale investments, with cost projections for each and phasing options that allowed for swing space development through the future construction projects.

Dedicated vision sessions for sustainable goals were interwoven into each option analyzed, with planned investments in building energy savings/renewable energy initiatives. This work contributed to the development of a culture of conservation across the Pike community, and produced tangible connections for students, faculty, and the community to outdoor learning spaces.
