Residence Hall Master Plan & New Residence Hall
Miami University selected CBT to lead a residential and dining master plan in anticipation of renovating 41 existing buildings and the creation of brand new halls to meet Miami’s needs for the next 50 years. CBT’s team includes Brailsford & Dunlavey for financial modeling, Carol Johnson as landscape architects and local architects Champlin.
The approach to the master plan includes assessing all existing residences on campus, developing a full program for the renovations and new facilities to enhance the product mix and social and living/learning aspects of residential life, benchmarking their needs relative to today’s marketing strategies and creating design prototypes for the renovation and adaptive re-use of existing buildings to meet the program needs. Additional studies include off campus market supply analysis, peer institution and national trends analysis, and student survey and demand projections.
Concurrent with the programming and physical master plan, a financial master plan will be developed including long-range revenue projections, capital expenditures, operating expenses over the plan’s implementation timeline and an overall financial proforma. CBT is also doing a site study of at least four alternate locations on both the core campus and the Western campus to add approximately 800 new beds.
