Wellesley Office Park is home to eight buildings that make up this suburb corporate campus located 12 miles west of Boston. The overall goal of the owner is to lease available space and position the location as a desirable place to work. The renovation to Building 55, the most centrally located building on the 22-acre campus, provides expanded and updated amenity spaces.
Equity Office enlisted CBT to design and renovate the 13,735 square foot ground floor of Building 55 as amenity space to be used by the entire campus facility. The program was to refresh and expand an existing café, points of entry and building vestibules, while adding elements such as conference facilities with a lounge area and a fitness center including men’s and women’s locker rooms.
The 5,400 square foot café holds a full-service kitchen along with adequate dining seating to accommodate over 100 people. The addition of the 4,700 square foot fitness center includes premium gym equipment and a studio for private classes. Conference center houses capabilities of high-speed telecom and audio/visual components for video conferencing.
The completion of this space has been very well received by all users, as well as the owner, and is an attractive feature to offer potential building tenants. Design and construction for this gut renovation totaled 8 months, beginning in summer 2008 and completing in February 2009.
