CBT worked as Architect of Record, alongside the San Jose based Whitney Polcyn Architects
, Inc., to deliver an innovative new office space on two floors of a historic wharf building. TIBCO’s new Boston Office is approximately 40,000-square-feet on two floors of 281 Summer Street. The design concept celebrates the original fabric of the existing brick and beam building by contrasting it with the new construction. Bold colors and generous use of glass activate and define workspaces to create a dialogue between new and old.
CBT successfully worked with WPA through a highly collaborative approach. Design contributions included design detailing to achieve the concept, and deep knowledge of incorporating new architecture and systems, and creatively addressing surface and material adjacencies in historic buildings. In addition, CBT provided due diligence, local resources and building code knowledge, and assistance in identification and selection of local subconsultants and contractors.
