On August 5, CBT, AvalonBay and guest of honor Mayor Martin J. Walsh celebrated the grand opening of AvalonBay’s AVA Theater District hosted at the project site by AvalonBay, developer.

The eye catching 30 story residential building in Boston's Theatre District is bringing much needed residential housing to the downtown area, drawing young professionals into the city. The innovative AVA Theater District includes a stunning five-story glass folded curtain wall, 384,000 square feet of residential space, 90,000 square feet of above grade 198 spot parking garage which features a pedestrian walkway connecting Stuart and LaGRange Streets, in addition to its 398 residential units, which are split among studios, lofts and one and two bedroom apartment units. The building is projected to be LEED Silver Certified.

Mayor Walsh, Joe Spaulding, President and CEO, Citi Performing Arts Center and Michael Roberts, Senior Vice President of Development for AvalonBay Communities spoke at the event.

"Boston is in the middle of its third largest building boom in the city’s history” Mayor Walsh states, “We want Boston to be different…We are encouraging architects to be creative.” “We are creating interesting spaces and opportunities for people to come together…We are creating a sense of community and collaboration.”
