Private Residence New Jersey
The peaceful quality of the forest site and its natural landscape was an important consideration in the design of the house. The house is carefully sited to fit into the landscape with minimal disturbance. Floors step down gently to accommodate the sloping grade.
Stone, indigenous to the area, is used to help connect the house to the land. Deep recesses in the stone walls capture the breadth and solid nature of the stone material. Natural slate is used for the roof, which is designed with one-story eaves and dormer windows to reduce the scale of the house. Based on the principals of Feng Shui, all living spaces are oriented to the south and have through ventilation and ample views to the surrounding natural setting.
