Boston University Institutional Master Plan

Boston University has a unique urban campus that has helped shape the surrounding city over the last 150 years. The strategic framework builds on the University’s varied set of planning interests and needs, many of which are dynamic and in various stages of development. Working with BU since 2006, a comprehensive campus planning analysis to better understand the short and long term implications associated with future development and growth in the surrounding region has been developed, and continues to evolve. The initiative focused on working with neighbors to better integrate the campus with the surrounding context and in conjunction with emerging plans for the strategic re-investment in the regional transportation infrastructure.

In addition to a cohesive vision for the entire campus, the work focused on a number of key locations including an area of key geographic importance where the Boston University Bridge and Commonwealth Avenue cross over the Massachusetts Turnpike. The plan proposed a significant transformation and calls for a brand new multi-modal transportation facility.
