Harbor Court Hotel Honored with IIDA New England Award

We are proud to announce that CBT’s design for the Harbor Court Hotel has received the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) New England award for Best in Hospitality. The project was honored at the annual awards ceremony on February 26, 2015.

Located on San Francisco’s embarcadero, the Harbor Court’s waterfront location provided a strong inspiration for the redesign of all 131 guestrooms, suites and corridors featuring refined styles, nautical attributes and materials that remain authentic to its context and the Kimpton brand. The space truly highlights the boutique elegance of the Kimpton brand while blending nautical elements of the past with entrepreneurial touches of the present, creating an urban retreat for guests.

IIDA New York Chapter Judges Comments:

“A strong concept followed through simply, without being kitschy, set this project apart. While relying on industrial elements and emblems, the effect is of a fresh, clever and welcoming set of spaces. Thoughtful design that makes the most out of a seemingly less than perfect room configuration — is able to overcome a bit of an underdog building. The waterside / bridge-side site is quietly recalled in the choice of heavy colors used in a harmonizing way. Accessories that stand out, but do not overbear could be hard to manage — but here is no problem for this designer.”
