Two CBT Projects Shortlisted to 2021 WAN Awards
CBT is deeply proud to announce that two CBT urban design projects have been shortlisted to the 2021 WAN Awards, a prestigious global design competition recognizing outstanding, innovative, and imaginative architecture worldwide.
Described by the WAN Awards jury as “a blueprint for future design,” Eco-Residences 2 was named a finalist to the Sustainable Design and Land Use category. The design of the market-driven, LEED-Platinum-certified mixed-use neighborhood synthesizes a human-centered approach with a dramatically reduced environmental impact for its Middle Eastern desert site. Eco-Residences 2 is the first of eight planned mixed-use neighborhoods for the new city, Masdar City, developed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, a leader in renewable energy and sustainable urban development.

“A very well-rounded and successful proposal, deeply rooted in its site and its context,” according to the awards jury, the Suffolk Downs Master Plan was shortlisted to the WAN Awards Future Projects: Urban Design category. The Suffolk Downs master plan will transform the 161-acre former horse racing facility into a resilient, transit-oriented, mixed-use development, harnessing existing natural resources to introduce a vibrant coastal community. The new development plan reclaims valuable space for community use with 10,000 units of housing, nearly 6 million square feet of life science, office, hotel and retail space, plus significant transit infrastructure and 40 acres of open space.
