Working in collaboration with Greenberg Consultants, CBT has developed a master plan for a 20-acre innovation district in downtown Durham, known as "Durham.ID." When complete, Durham.ID will eventually include one million square feet of office space, as well as retail space and 300 residential units. Envisioned as a downtown research hub, Durham.ID will be built around a vibrant core of life sciences and technology in partnership with researchers from Duke University, complemented by an array of arts organizations.

The plan articulates the vision of Duke University, Longfellow Real Estate Partners, and Measurement Incorporated to market downtown Durham as a world-class innovation district. The plan will designate areas for open space, public amenities, pedestrian corridors, basic vehicular plans, and will include proposed new or relocated streets as well as connecting an urban research cluster to other residential, retail, and cultural amenities.

The scope of work includes development of a master plan to build on Durham’s great assets and repurpose some of the valuable heritage building stock.
