The Brattle Group

After more than 20 years in Harvard Square, the Brattle Group decided to move their established global headquarters from a compartmentalized building to a downtown high-rise at Boston’s One Beacon office tower. Their previous workspace posed a series of challenges to their envisioned working style, and the expansive floor plates and unstructured potential of this new space presented an exciting opportunity for the firm.

In an active partnership, the design team and Brattle Group employees worked together to program and design a space reflects the company’s culture, support future growth, and capitalizes on the views and natural aesthetics of their new location. The design for the new space was greatly inspired by abundant daylight throughout, as well as by sweeping panoramas of Boston Harbor, Boston Common, and the Charles River Esplanade. Cool tones and curated pops of color pull the sea and sky into the office and create a porous indoor-outdoor aesthetic. Verdant biophilia reinforces the natural connection, as hanging planters and green walls highlight the health and wellness initiatives of the office. The new airy, central stair – a key avenue for firm employees – was carefully designed to minimize impact to the outside views. It serves as both a connector between to the firm’s two floors, contributor to a more active lifestyle, and as a reinforcing tie to the natural elements beyond.
