Eco-Residences 2 Wins Gold WAN Award!
We could not be more thrilled to announce that Eco-Residences 2 has won 1st place in the 2021 World Architecture News Awards - Sustainable Design and Land Use category!
Eco-Residences 2 was recognized at the 13th annual WAN Awards ceremony on November 18, 2021.
The project is the first to be honored with a Gold Award – the highest award level – from the new Sustainable Design and Land Use category, which debuted this year to highlight projects that put the needs of the planet first.
Selected from an impressive number of entries from more than 30 countries, Eco-Residences 2 was described by the jury as “a blueprint for future design,” and “an outright winner.”
The design of the market-driven, LEED-Platinum-certified Eco-Residences 2 neighborhood synthesizes a human-centered approach with a dramatically reduced environmental impact for its Middle Eastern desert site. Eco-Residences 2 is the first of eight planned mixed-use neighborhoods for the new city, Masdar City, developed by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, a leader in renewable energy and sustainable urban development. The neighborhood’s design integrates real-world solutions for a buildable, financeable real-world development, fulfilling Masdar’s inspiring vision to “provide the highest quality of life with the lowest environmental footprint.”
